From Kitchen Scraps to Compost: Sharing Simple Composting at St. Andrew's Earth Day Event

This past Earth Day, GreenPath Composting had the opportunity to speak with members of the St. Andrew Catholic Community about simple, practical composting solutions that can be done right at home.

During the presentation, we discussed how everyday food scraps can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost using a simple 3-tier backyard composting setup. From kitchen scraps to finished compost, the goal was to show that composting can be approachable, affordable, and beneficial for both families and the local environment.



One of the highlights of the presentation was showing how a simple 3-tier 32-gallon compost bin system can turn everyday food scraps into finished compost. The system was designed to be simple enough for homeowners while still producing rich organic material that can be used to improve soil health naturally.

In addition to discussing backyard composting methods, we also talked about the importance of reducing food waste and returning nutrients back into the local ecosystem.



Recently, GreenPath Composting completed one of its latest compost batches, producing finished compost generated from collected food scraps and natural materials. The finished compost shown below was created using a backyard composting process and later sifted into usable material for landscaping and soil improvement.

It was exciting to see the process come full circle — from food scraps to finished compost ready to return nutrients back into the ground.
